Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride Guides and Walkthroughs
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride is a video game for role-playing and is the fifth installment of the Dragon Quest video game series and the second game in the Zenithian Trilogy. It was initially created by Chunsoft and later published in 2000 by Enix Corporation. Dragon Quest V was the first game of the Dragon Quest series released on the Nintendo Super Famicom (SFC aka SNES) video game console in Japan in September 1992. Dragon Quest V was the first game in the series that was not launched in other countries than Japan due to the issues with programming that affected the industry in the early days.
Dragon Quest V uses basic gameplay mechanics for role-playing games used in the other series games. This includes gaining experience points in battle, first-person-first-person-turn-based battles, and equipping armor and weapons. One thing that is new to Dragon Quest V is that it allows players of the Dragon Quest series the ability to summon monsters into the player’s group. Monsters can be used to fight and increase their level like humans. Monsters can ask for their place in the Hero after battles, provided they feel the party is sufficiently strong. There are 40 monsters capable of joining the party within this version—the Super Famicom version, with 70 of them in the PlayStation 2 remake.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride Complete Walkthrough
Here is the complete guide to Dragon Quest 5. Like the other walkthroughs on this site, I don’t keep you in my grip throughout the game. Instead, I direct you in the right direction and explain how you can move forward in the story. Towns and Dungeons are yours to explore however you want to. The most difficult or challenging spots will be discussed in my Book, but the adventure is yours to explore!
Dragon Quest V Walkthrough – (Chapter 1)
I’ve talked about it on my Dragon Quest V index page, but it’s essential to mention it here. This walkthrough was designed to allow players (the player) the most freedom possible while they play the game. This means that I don’t keep your hand all the way. My guide guides you in the right direction and tells you how to move the story. That means exploring the dungeons and towns is mostly up to you.
All puzzles, rare items, or other challenging aspects are addressed within this article. I aim to have you spend minimum time studying this guide and spend as much time as you can playing the game.
Once you have control of your character for the first time, you’ll end up on board the ship. To move the story, you’ll need to communicate with the ship’s entire crew. You’ll also need to talk with Pankraz (your Father). The ship has an entire set of 4 Medicinal Herbs that you can discover together with 1 Seed of Resilience and 2 T ‘don’t Ticket.
The treasure chests inside the ship’s Supply Hold cannot be opened at this time. Therefore you can avoid these. The remainder of the things can be found in Barrels or on shelves. Once you’ve spoken with all the people on the ship, it will arrive in town, and you’ll need to visit your Father and talk to him again.
When you land, you’ll get on land. You’ll receive a World Map from your Dad’s friend and gain control of your character. Smash nearby Barrels to get 10G in reward and leave the World Map. When you are in the first battle, Daddy will help you and take you to the next town.
Tips: If you have difficulty finding doors or other items in-game, be sure to utilize your button on your shoulder (L and R) to turn the camera!
Walbrook was the initial town officially recognized that you’ll encounter within Dragon Quest V. In the basement of Bianca’s house, there is an item called a Seed for Strength. There are other things scattered around the town; however, as I’ve said before, I won’t guide you through each step in this guide. Dungeons and Towns will be your sole responsibility of you to explore thoroughly.
When you’re done wandering around town and amassing all items, you’ll need to go into the cave located at the northernmost point of the town to further the story. Within the cave, you’ll have to fight monsters; therefore, it is essential to be vigilant as it’s the beginning of the story. If you require healing, you’ll be able to go back to Bianca’s home and talk to her Dad, Sancho, to stay for the night at no cost (you must be injured to allow Sancho to allow you to rest in his house).
The church in town to safeguard your progress is also a good idea. Inside the cave, there’s a man encased beneath a rock (pictured below). This is the person you’ll have to rescue to propel the story. Go back to the town and talk to the person you helped at the Item Shop If you’d like to receive a reward.
If you’re willing to go on with the story, take a trip back to Sancho’s place and stay the night there. The Father will be present as you awake, and a story will begin when you climb the steps. Accept to go with him, and then you’ll embark on a linear journey into the following town. Lundbeck.
Visit the city of Roundbeck and find all the things you can find. To progress the story, you’ll have to talk with the children playing the cat that lives on the tiny island that lies south of the Inn (pictured below). After you’ve spoken to these youngsters, you must go back to the Inn and talk with Pankraz. The conversation will trigger a few scenes that will propel the story ahead.
It’s nighttime, and as Bianca is part of your group, you’ll want to boost her levels just a bit before you tackle the next Dungeon: Updated Towers. I suggest getting her to at least level 5 before proceeding north until Uptaten Tower.
Notification: You can rest at no cost by returning to the hotel in Lundbeck. If you awake in the morning, it’s morning again, and Bianca isn’t in your group anymore. To make this change, speak to Bianca on the Inn’s top floor. You’ll receive an option to talk at night time (pictured beneath).

Updated Tower on the World Map
Updated Tower is found due north of Lundbeck. You’re looking for the structure in the above screenshot. If you travel along the river in the northern part of Roundbeck you’ll see Uptaten Tower just to the left of the northernmost bridge. When you get into the Updated Tower area, you’ll need to go to the rear of the building before climbing to the top of the ladder. Utilize buttons R + L button to alter the angle of your camera in case you’re having difficulty getting around the space.
In the first room in the tower, in the first room, Bianca is escorted away by Skeletons. To rescue her, you’ll need to examine the tombstones on the left side of an upcoming space (pictured in the below image). Do not worry about getting lost in the dark Dungeon since it’s pretty linear. Also, there won’t be any enemies until the end of the game.
Gravestone, which Bianca is trapped under
You’ll need to talk to the ghost woman in the two rooms following to move the story. There are a lot of goodies to be found in the master room that she’s in, too. There’s only one route ahead, so follow it once you’re ready. See if you can catch the flashes of lightning to guide you through the dark room, and when you spot the King’s ghost, follow his ghost around from the room.
Talk to the ghost of the King in the tower and offer to help him before going back through the door from which you entered. From here on, you’ll encounter enemies within and around Uptaten Tower. On the top level to the west, you’ll find an Inn (screen image below) that you should go straight away to discover the location and progress the story. Stay in the Inn for the night, and you’ll be in the street with an older man.
Updated Tower Inn (left)
The entrance into the tower has now been unlocked, as is the entrance underground accessible from the cave just to the north of the older man. The cave’s entrance is where there are three treasure chests and an unfinished one. When you’re determined to progress the story and obtain the Torch, you’ll have to go to the basement to the south of the Inn within the tower.
The room with the flame is a massive kitchen with a plate in the middle. We’ll visit again shortly, and the Torch can be found in one of two pots in the northeastern area within the space. The chests are located within the adjoining room. You’ll be able to get them by stepping via the cave’s entrance when you’ve finished your stay in the Inn.
With the Torch in your hands, proceed to the room that has ghosts in it and is dark. You’ll need to open your inventory and (if the Torch is in the Bag) insert it into the inventory of your character to make use of the Torch. Afterward, go to the bottom of the pit (pictured in the image below) to find two additional treasure chests.
It falls when I am standing, aiming at two treasure chests
The only thing left to do is defeat the final boss of the Dungeon, that of the Haunted Housekeeper. He’s located at the top of the Updated tower, which is in the same room you put the Torch into to eliminate ghosts. If you approach him first, you’ll be taken to the kitchen, on top of the previous plate, where you’ll be turned into an entrée for your foes.
If you’re not seven levels old, I wouldn’t suggest you try the boss because the boss is challenging. Get a little grind while, then stay another night at the Inn, then load with both Hero and Bianca’s Medicinal Herbs so they can use them in the battle. Go back to the boss’s room once prepared and take him to the balcony, where you can begin the fight with him.
This boss is the most difficult enemy to defeat up to this point, as he prefers to utilize Kasap to your character and then truck them. That is to say. He hits them like a semi-truck. Make use of Bianca’s Dazzle spell on him and Kasap when you already have it. In this stage of the game, your Hero will also be equipped with the Heal spell that is highly beneficial, together with any Medicinal Herbs to help you the time when your HP is low.
After you’ve defeated the boss, you’ll be rewarded with a brief scene featuring the queen and King, then a Golden Orb. Go back to the town (use Chimera Wing should you desire), and you’ll be able to watch a scene in which you are required to take Sabrecat Sabrecat from the children, and then you’ll have to pick the appropriate name for it. Continue selecting “No” till you have an appropriate name.
Tips: Un equip everything from Bianca and then give it to the new party member before you leave this town. Bianca quits your party when she is done and all the belongings she has left are gone.
The name of my Sabrecat’s Purrcy
If you’re ready to take the story to the next level, you must contact your Father, who is in front on the inside of the hotel. Take a break and return to Whealbrook You’ll be on an unidirectional path with your Father just like any of the previous instances. When you return to Whealbrook you’ll be greeted by your Dad who will prohibit you from leaving the town. There are some tasks you must complete in Whealbrook in order to progress the story.
1. Talk to the guy outside the church dressed as you (actually not required, but that it’s not)
2. Enter the Inn downstairs and talk to the Fairy behind the counter.
3. Look for the fairy in Sancho’s home In the cellar
After talking to the Fairy in Sancho’s house, an entranceway will be revealed which your character will climb through the next section in the adventure.
Dragon Quest 5 Walkthrough (Chapter 2)
Once you’ve arrived in The Land of Faeries, the Fairy who brought you here will lead you into Treacle who will request your assistance in locating an instrument called a flute. Honey will join your group once you’ve completed the task and will assume the role of healer until now! Take a break from the tree you’re in and walk across the lily pads to the place you came from. There is a shimmer on the ground which you’ll want to grab to get an Seed of Life; further to the south of this area is the location of the Inn as well as a shop.
The shop has lots of cool stuff however you’re probably not in a position to pay for anything right now. But keep coming back as you earn more money to pay for upgrades. Go south to the World Map and do some upgrading to give your Sabrecat several levels higher as well as you.
If you stay in the Inn within Faery Land will cause you to awake at home in Walbrook. If this happens, just go back to Faery Land by climbing The golden stairs. When you’ve reached a certain level, our next stop will be a cave located on the western part of the island you’re currently on (pictured in the below image).
Faery Map of the Land
In the cave, you’ll find the Book entitled ‘lots of locks’. You can find it when you go down the middle stairs to the lower part of the cave. it’s not difficult to find, but finding the enemies in the cave could be difficult if you’re at a low level. When you have opened the chest using The Lots about Locks Book you’ll instantly learn everything within the pages, and the Book disappears.
It’s now time to walk through the blue doors and take possession of the treasure chests which are located on the floor. Once you have them, you’re finished here. Return to Faery Lea and spend the night in the Inn before heading on to “island” in the north edge of the road. It’s identified in my screen shot by the yellow square.
After you’ve learned how to unlock locked doors, you’ll be in a position to gain access into the palace. Prior to opening the front door, it’s advised to go left of the entrance and then around the back and back. There’s a treasure chest at the back, which contains the Seed of Wisdom.
Winter Palace Sliding Floor Puzzle
It’s the Winter Palace is the token ice-level that you can slip across the floor and have to cross the wall/obstacles in a proper in order to be aligned with the place you’d like to move. In the first room you enter (pictured below) you’ll need to walk through one or both of the pillars that I have red arrows pointed towards. This will align you with the stairs that are located in the east. This is the way to the top of the Dungeon.
If you’re looking to find all treasure chests, there is a staircase to the west which leads to a basement with three chests. Before you take on the boss of this area, it’s suggested that you’re at or near the level 10 mark, at which point she’ll be fairly easy to beat. If you’re prepared to take on her, talk to Dwight the man who guards the two chests on the very top of Winter Palace (pictured below).
Speak to Dwight will start the scene, and then a brief battle , following when it is revealed that the Winter queen will show up, and transform into an unstoppable monster. This is the main boss fight. Utilize the Hero’s Buff Magic on all your players and let Honey manage the healing. Otherwise, just take on your boss with your Hero or Sabrecat.
Dwight on top of the Winter Palace
After you’ve defeated the Winter Queen, open the two chests in front of Dwight and come back the game to Faery Lea and give the Herald of Spring to Treacle to complete the final part in the adventure. There’s a brief scene , and then you’ll be transported back into the real world. Sancho will be waiting for you to stop you leave the house and inform you that you’ve dropped the Blooming Branch.
Your choice of how you interact with Sancho is not really important You can return to this place later and pick up the branch again , if you don’t leave the town. You can talk to his Father at the parish, and after that, you’ll be able to go out of town. Like before, you’ll be riding on rails as you go with your Father up to Coburg Castle.
When you arrive, your Father will be able to speak with the King and inform you to go on a tour of the castle during the meantime. To progress the story you’ll have to talk to three different individuals, the arrangement doesn’t matter as long as you have a conversation with each one of them. Alongside talking to them, they can also locate the Seed of Magic in the castle (in the room below the chapel).
1. Talk to Prince Harry
2. Chat with Queen Consort
3. Talk to your guard at the top of the stairs (pictured below)
Guards to talk to in order to move the story forward (left) as well as the hidden staircase beneath Prince Harry (right).
The guard in the picture above is easily located by climbing the steps just to the left of where you go into the castle (aka across the hallway of the cathedral). Once you’ve spoken with three of the NPCs who you’re looking for then return to King, and discuss with him in order to keep the story going.
You will now have to go through a more between you and Prince Harry. You will need to talk to Prince Harry and then look at the chest in the adjoining room, and then talk to your Father when Prince Harry goes away. It is necessary to repeat the process two times. The third time, look over the chair Prince Harry used to sit in and look for an unnoticed button (pictured below).
Following Prince Harry down the stairs you’ll be witness to an incident in which he is taken hostage. If you attempt to follow him, the gangsters will jump off an eddy and flee. Return to your Father, and explain what happened to him that you’ll need to follow him to his World Map.
Tips: Stop at the store selling weapons in town to buy your Sabrecat weapon. Iron Claw and Stone Fang are available for purchase here that he can make use of.
Cave north to the northeast of Coburg Castle Map Location
The Father of your child is waiting for you in a cave north from Coburg Castle, it’s found near the northern end of the Poisonous Lake (pictured in the above image). In this cave, you’ll have to get together with Pankraz who’s fighting some of his enemies on a platform. You’ll be able to see Pankraz right upon entering the cavern, but you’ll need to travel around to get to him.
After you’ve teamed up with Pankraz and he’s part of your group, the only thing left to do is save Prince Harry. Find the tile the spot where Pankraz was found and take the raft to the north, through the tunnel. Pankraz will control your group once you make it to the next room. You can then release Harry from his prison.
Pankraz teaches that you leave the Dungeon. Instead of going the long way, take the Raft and head to the southeast corner of the room that is filled that is filled with water. The same place where you’ve discovered Monster Munchies there’s an exit that takes you back to the entry point. In the process of escaping but, you’ll have to face bishop Ladja, who’s the indefensible boss of the dark Dungeon.
Do not waste time trying to defeat Bishop Ladja Just wipe the floor of your opponents off so that your Father will be there to rescue you. The following scenes will unfold, and the battle will continue to play in the future. For a safe way to avoid spoilers move on to the next chapter in the guide after you are prepared.
Locations for Locked Doors
In this particular version of Dragon Quest, there are only two keys to discover in the game: Magic Key and the Ultimate Key. My guides will explain the best way to locate each of these keys, as well as how you can find all of the doors that are locked and are able to open using these keys.
The Side Quest Guides
There are just two quests available in Dragon Quest V, the Knick-Knackatory and it’s Mini Medals side quest. You can start both of them after you have gotten the boat at the beginning of the game. Both of these locations will become Zoom places once you’ve visited.
Metal Slime Farming Location and Guide
When grinding the monsters as well as farming Dragon Quest games there is nothing more effective than Metal Slimes. Anyone who has played this Dragon Quest series will know everything about these creatures since they are a frequent theme in all of the games. In general, Metal Slimes are exceptionally rare and hard to kill however, they offer 10 times more EXP (roughly) than another monster.
