It was the surfers in the Pacific, to be more exact surfers in Hawai who came with this brilliant idea around the 1950s. Back in those days, longboards did not exactly have the same purpose as of now. Longboards were mostly used by the surfers there.

In reality, it was an accidental discovery by the surfers. They decided to find the alternative for surfing when the ocean wasn’t is a good condition or in summer. So they would take their longboards out in the streets to keep the surfing skills in practice they require very similar skills.

Frank Nasworthy brought up the urethane wheels on 1972. It attracted lots of positive attention as it was one step ahead for the world of longboarding. The longboards went being homemade boards with woods and clays to something more technically sophisticated. That was the beginning when various riding styles started to appear. But they were still in their infancy.

Unfortunately, longboarding went underground shortly after that due to the high-insurance cost and the threat of lawsuits.

Some Common Freestyling Tricks are The Manual, The Boneless, The Ollie, The Ghostride Kickflip, etc.

Type of Boards There are two types of Longboards: Hybrid Longboards and Regular Longboards. Only one type of Dancing longboard with subtle variations.
Deck Size Deck sizes are around 41 inches, which can also be said a dancer board. Deck sizes range from around 42 inches to 48 inches long which is longer than other boards.
Trucks Either Traditional Kingpin or Reverse Kingpin- depending on your interest. Reverse Kingpin is always the ideal choice.
Wheels Usually 56-63mm wheels. Wheels are much larger, around 70-74mm.
Innovation It’s harder to create your own trick. You can make your own dance moves if you practice enough.
