August 11, 2022 By amit chavan Leave a Comment

The 2022 Gold Derby TV Awards saw “Only Murders in the Building,” “Pachinko,” and “The White Lotus” emerge as the major victors. With over 2,200 Gold Derby users participating in this 19th annual event, the awards recognized excellence in television from the previous season. The winners spanned across various shows, and you can find the complete list of winners below. Additionally, you can watch the virtual ceremony above, which features entertaining acceptance speeches from most of the winners.

“Only Murders” secured the top spot on the list by winning four awards: Best Comedy Series, Best Comedy Episode (“The Boy from 6B”), and both guest acting accolades for Jane Lynch and Nathan Lane. It was also the most nominated comedy of the year, receiving eight nominations. On the drama side, there was a surprising turn of events. Despite “Succession” leading with 12 nominations, our derbyites showed strong support for Apple TV+’s “Pachinko,” which swept all three categories it was nominated in: Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor (Lee Min-Ho), and Best Drama Supporting Actress (Yuh-Jung Youn). Lee also received the Breakthrough Performer of the Year award, recognizing his overall talent rather than a specific performance on a single show.

However, “Succession” still had a successful year. The reigning 2020 Gold Derby TV Award winner for Best Drama added three more trophies to its collection this year: Best Drama Supporting Actor (Kieran Culkin), Best Drama Episode (“All the Bells Say”), and Ensemble of the Year. Another HBO production, “The White Lotus,” also achieved triple wins by being named Best Limited Series and winning both movie/limited supporting categories for Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett.

After the aforementioned shows, following closely with two wins each were “Euphoria,” “Hacks” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Securing a single award each were “Arcane,” “Barry,” “Dopesick,” “The Dropout,” “The Fallout,” “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Squid Game” and “Ted Lasso.” The recipient of this year’s Performer of the Year title is Oscar Isaac, who delivered not one, but two outstanding performances this year in “Scenes from a Marriage” and “Moon Knight.” Share your thoughts on the winners in the comments section below, and engage in the ongoing discussion about all things TV in our forums.
