WhatsApp now boasts in all your chats that end to end encryption have activated. This is actually not so new because since 2014 the application was using a type of encryption but the server. We also now have an encrypted from end to end.
What is encryption end to end?
Encryption end-to-end, as is also named in the Anglo-Saxon world, it is a system in which messages are encrypted when sent and encrypted when received. That is, all the way the message remains encrypted and can not be read.
WhatsApp talks finally are encrypted end-to-end
So the message is encrypted in our terminal, the recipient which has a key to decry pt it is sent. Both messages and calls and voice messages, videos and photos remain encrypted in WhatsApp. Encryption takes two steps with AES and HMAC-SHA 256 256 shielding access to third encryption.
In short, neither WhatsApp, no one will be able to read messages or access the calls you make with the application.
How to confirm the encryption end to end
If you click on an individual conversation (not in a group) WhatsApp on notice that now the chat is secured with end to end encryption we will have a pop-up window that gives us the option ‘Confirm’.
If you click on confirm we will have a QR code with the decryption key of that particular chat. To verify that security is properly enabled need the other person with whom we chat between the same option and scanned our code, or we theirs. Once scanned a confirmation signal appears.
This function is only to check the encryption as this is activated as standard for all users. to make sure that everything works properly is best to have the latest version of the application.
