The new camera: Better than its predecessor
The camera was one of the few things that ULTIMATE-TECH-NEWS am predecessor Moto G 2nd generation had to criticize. It is precisely this criticism Motorola took apparently to heart: The new Moto G now has a 13 megapixel camera (the predecessor Moto G 2nd generation offers only 8 megapixels). But not enough: A Dual Flash with two different colored LEDs is also included; on the front grows the camera resolution of previously two to five megapixels – good for Selfies and for video chats. In the photo view test in daylight (Rating: 3.06), the Moto G3 interface with its 13-megapixel lens better than its predecessor. The time was rated 3.61. While the photos of Moto G3 show some blurring, but were not disturbed by the significant variations in color as in the Moto G. 2 The technical photo quality which was measured for the 13 mega pixel camera of the new Moto G, also was higher (Rating: 1.65, when there was the G2 Moto Rating: 2,07).
Hardware: Few innovations
On the other hardware Motorola has not changed much in his new Moto G: The device’s screen still measures 5 inches and has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels – just like its predecessors. The Moto-G-3 display with 294 ppi also has the identical pixel density of the Moto G 2. Its screen is, however, with 452.3 cd / m2 slightly darker than the just as bright to be evaluated monitor the Moto G 3 with its 487.6 cd / m2. While the Moto is a touch G3 (155 vs. 156 grams) lighter than the Moto G 2, for it is but curiously also slightly thicker (1.16 vs. 1.05 centimeters) become.
More memory, there’s only optional
According to Motorola’s 16-gigabyte version of the new Moto G that doubles the memory of 2 gigabytes. The smaller version that was valid ULTIMATE-TECH-NEWS for the test, however, only 8 gigabytes of storage offered with 1 gigabyte of RAM. Of the 8 GB memory only 4.53 GB for apps, photos, videos and music are in practice free. Since the installed Android 5.1.1, unlike the upcoming Android M, no installation of apps allowed to memory cards, the 8 GB internal memory are really bad tight. After all, can the memory via micro SD HC card up to 32 GB to expand yet.
The first outdoor Moto G
That was really surprising: The Moto G third generation is waterproof! Thus, it blossomed even an alternative to the Galaxy S5, since the successor Galaxy S6 Samsung has removed the waterproof case. Motorola uses the default “IPX 7”, which means: Protection against temporary immersion. That works but only if the rear cover is closed properly – a sticker on the back of the new device to recall once more how that goes. In the test, the new Moto G makes some short dives in any case always a good figure – reliable and kept “tight”.
The Moto G3 is colorful
Apart from the hardware, the biggest change: The Moto G is colorful – but only if you want! As in the past with Motorola’s top smartphone Moto X you will be online in Moto Maker can choose from a wealth of topsides. Was there the previous versions only in black and white, the user can determine the upcoming smartphone for yourself how the back looks like. Backs from wood or leather as the Moto X, there is probably not.
A brisk bees thanks to quad-core processor
A Snapdragon 410 processor from Qual comm makes for a total of very fast operation. The Moto G 3 showed therefore a good working pace. It could be liquid use and graphically intensive games and applications running on Motorola’s new mid-range smartphone with no artifacts. But even in the presentation of Web pages, the device worked swiftly.
Announced Android 6
The operating system Motorola relies on the latest Android 5.1.1. Pleasing to the user: Officially Motorola has for the Moto G3 already update to Android 6 . Motorola relies on a so-called stock -Andoid- surface, in which the Android system has not adapted to their own needs. Advantage: No frills disturbs the smooth operation.
… and LTE on board
LTE CAT 4 (data rate up to 150 Mbps) is already on board. In previous generations Motorola pushed here still a device by. The strategy is, however, in 2015 no longer appropriate. In order for the model range for the Moto G 3rd generation would finally somewhat clearer. Just a pity that there is still no Wi-Fi support for AC-Moto G. Who can dials with the device at home or via a hotspot to the Internet access only to the often very overflowing 2.4 GHz frequency. With a corresponding data volume you’re there with LTE usually clearly on fast train.
The Motorola Moto G 3 is equipped with a 2,315 mAh comprehensive battery that is built into the device. In the test lab the middle-class smartphone went out of steam after 11 hours and 51 minutes in typical everyday use with surfing, telephony, WLAN, LTE, video and photography. The 2250 mAh battery of the Moto G 4G LTE 2nd generation had with 11 hours and 49 minutes in the same test track only insignificantly lower run time.
The price makes the music
Originally, the Moto G3 with 229 euros was comparatively expensive. After the price slide to below 200 euros however it is now again a real price to do. Even the older Moto G 4G LTE 2nd generation is hardly favorable. Thanks to improved camera and the waterproof covering the Moto G3 is but the better buy. And even older versions of the Moto G have no LTE. Tip: Before you buy, you should test whether there currently are not also find top offers for the better 16 GB version of the Moto G3. At the start there was the Moto G3 for 1 euro as an action with 1 GB Basic tariff (9,99 euros per month). The action, however, is now expired.
