Every time you open a web browser, you have a mission to do: to plan trips, to send emails, to read stories, to search for information etc. Google Chrome browser has been created so you can do all of the above as quickly and safely as possible.
Recently, we have celebrated the 10th anniversary of Chrome and like every child that reaches a two-digit age number, the browser grows and changes.
In the case of Chrome, these changes happen every 6 weeks to have new security features and upgrades in our hands, but on its 10th anniversary, the changes are bigger than usual.
Firstly, Chrome gets a new look. You can see it on all platforms – Desktop, Android and iOS, where you’ll see more rounded lines, new icons and a new color palette.
These upgrades result in a simpler look that will boost your productivity. For example, tabs change shape and web page icons become more distinct for easier navigation when you have multiple tabs open.
In the mobile version, changes have been made for faster navigation, including dragging toolbar to the bottom for iOS devices to make it easier to navigate. On all versions of Chrome, menus, commands, and URLs have been simplified in the address bar.
Do what you want faster
In our times, you do a lot of online activities like trips and appointments, shopping and simultaneous tracking of many websites.
Now, Chrome can help you by filling in your passwords, addresses, and credit card numbers more accurately, so you can overcome forms that need to be completed in a very short time. All of this information is stored in your Google Account and can be viewed directly from the Chrome toolbar.
Additionally, the way the passwords are managed is greatly improved. To stay secure on the Internet, you need to use powerful and unique passwords for each website. When it’s time to create a new password, Chrome will produce one for you, save it to your account, and be available on any device you use through your Google Account.
Smart answers directly to the search bar
Did you know that the top part of Chrome combines the search bar with the address bar? This is called the Omnibox and has been created to provide you with search results as quickly as possible.
Today, its use becomes even more convenient as it will show you the answers right there, without having to open a new tab.
Also, as a bonus feature, it will let you know that you already have a tab in one of the Chrome windows and will take you directly to it so you do not double-up the same page. Soon, you’ll even be able to search for your Google Drive files from Omnibox.
More personal than ever
Everyone uses the Chrome browser in their own way, and so new personal configuration options are added. You can now create and manage shortcuts for your favorite web pages directly from the new tab – just open a new tab and select “Add Shortcut”. You can also customize the background with your photos.
What happens under the Hood
In addition to the obvious changes, Google continues to improve what the user does not see in the Chrome browser. In the year 2018, it incorporated an ad blocker to block annoying and malicious advertisements, it forced websites to go to the HTTPS protocol, launched the web-browsing site isolation feature to provide protection from Spectre type security holes, and brought Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies to the browser. Now it adds new tools such as start time, delay time, memory consumption and time spent by the user.
Overall, Google Chrome is one of the best and most secure browsers to use. Although we have noticed that the latest version consumes a lot of RAM on the computer, this is because it uses some special mechanisms to prevent malicious websites and code to compromise the browser and your computer.
Moreover, by using Chrome it means that by default you use Google Safe Browsing which is a free cloud service by Google to protect you if you visit dangerous websites. Also, when searching on Google, search results show any possible malicious websites to warn users in order for them to avoid clicking the link.
