Facebook launches with selected partners in the US, a new ad format that can scroll with smartphones and tablets.
Facebook wants to give its users in the future additional opportunities to purchase directly on the platform of the world’s largest online network. “For people shopping is often difficult to navigate on mobile devices,” said Facebook in a blog post. Slow load times, too much clicks to pay – that was bad for users and marketers. Facebook wants to buy now easier. The first step: Together with partners such as the fashion brand Michael Kors and the supermarket chain Carrefour, the company launched now a new ad format that deals with smartphones and tablets can scroll through. But that the plans of the social network listen far on: the online purchase of its 1.5 billion users may soon expire completely on facebook.
Every other user comes to shopping around
Nearly half of people visit Facebook, to search for products. That’s according to a study by Facebook – to which it, however, is no other information in the blog post. So quite perfect, the shopping experience is not yet, however. After all, people have to wait after clicking on the interesting product: “The mobile Internet pages, will be forwarded to those who often take a while to load and are not optimized,” it says in the blog post.Because many users can get out, Facebook is testing a new ad format.
