Nexus 6P Review

The nexus 6p now Google actually released two new Nexus phones this year instead of just one like they usually do and this here my friends is a more premium bigger and expensive one the nexus 6p if you’re new to android and are trying to understand all the hyper on Nexus phones well there’s two big things One Google Nexus phones run one hundred percent stock android so know what your skin’s no extra bloat ware and no extra features which some people claim makes them a little boring what’s important is that you can expect your nexus phone to run exactly the way Google intended to run in theory it should be no weird glitches or crashes with the right hardware stock Android to run faster than anything else and here on the nexus 6p it does this is a snappy a smart phone reviews might be because this is the first phone running android marshmallow that I’ve used but man this is fast and I’ll get some more of that later now the second biggest reason for all the hype is when Google releases a new update that up there will be available for download and installation immediately because it doesn’t have to go to the manufacturer and carrier it’s just instant and that’s really important for some people so the nexus 6p was designed by way which is one of the lesser-known companies to design the Nexus device here in the US but they did a great job that p-6 p stands for premium you could definitely feel this by just holding the phone it’s made entirely out of metal and we have these beautiful reflective trim hedges around the phone and the phone itself is actually very thin only seven point three millimeters in the back of the phone pretty much flat it ever so slightly cars around the sides but that helps with the grip and also courage here at the top with the camera shop is located but that is only make the phone wobbly on a desk and the finest of the back actually makes the phone a little hard to pick up from a flat surface so yeah going back to that hump on the back what the heck are we looking at here exactly I know when I for some pictures of this before the phone was announced I thought home and please don’t let that be real it’s just ugly looking and of course it was real so to get this phone so thin and how this awesome camera which will also talk about later on the camera hardware had to go somewhere and this is where all lives most Wednesdays have camera homes like the galaxy s6 or even the protruding camera on the iPhone 6 so same applies here on the nexus 6p it’s just a little more unusual looking than most and actually what time it has grown on me a lot underneath is a new addition to the Nexus phones and that’s what Google calls Nexus imprint the fingerprint scanner and it works very well it only needs to read you print about four times before it’s ready to go and after that it’s very reliable now we’re reading your fingerprint is pretty fast what makes a locking experience even faster is that you don’t need a power on the screen for it to start reading in the end from the time your finger touches a scanner to when you’re looking at your home screen it’s going faster than the iPhone 6s plus it’s located on the back which is good one holding your phone as that’s where your finger rest can be annoying though sometimes if you respond to a lot of texts while the phone is on a desk but it’s a great addition to the nexus lineup and most will probably love it but as somebody who sends a lot of tags for the phone is on a desk and sending texts you’re ok Google I had to disable it the phone feels awesome to hold and like i said before most of the time it feels cold from its metal construction and even with this big dimensions is pretty light at a hundred and seventy eight grams the aluminum itself doesn’t feel the most durable and it feels like it can easily be scratched and some people have tested it so you have the nexus 6p can scratch a little easier than most phones so just be careful that I usually don’t put cases or skins on my phones but the nexus 6p may be the first on the right side is a volume and power buttons which will really nice and sturdy I love the texture pattern on the power button the side bezels of the stone are really soon which is very nice but the top and bottom vessels are quite big which makes this fun a little more on Willie than it should be out of all the phones out there with 5.7 inch screens this is definitely the hardest to use one handed but it’s pretty thin which helps now the reason for these big bezels are these dual stereo speakers on the top and bottom and they are amazing much better than they already really good motor experience figures listening to music or watching videos on this phone is a great experience especially with the overall size of the phone you really get the surround sound effect it gets really loud although the highest setting may be a bit too much as it starts to clip and sounds compress the one setting lower and it sounds great but as much as I love lying down at night and using the phone one handed I really don’t mind that extra height with these speakers and there’s also a little LED notification light which is very nice you can control with life low except life flow and any other app that works with the notification system is a little buggy right now with marshmallow so hopefully app developers will fix it soon the screen on the nexus 6p is one of the best screens in a smartphone it’s a big 5.7 inch quad HD AMOLED screen so you get a nice pixel density of 518 pip and the clarity and vibrancy you get from a family panel is incredible once you try an amoled screen it’s really hard to go back to the LCD the dark areas are very dark as the pixels in that area simply don’t even light up to represent a true black color the whites are very white and only start to appear a little pink one at very low brightness while colors are very saturated and pop is not as Extreme as a no 5 display which creates a good balance the only downside to this amulet screen is that it really doesn’t get too bright so a lot of times when I’m outdoors the display seems a little dark anyone i pull it up all the way it’s darker than most phones but if that’s the only price I have to pay for such a beautiful screen I’m fine with that so like I was saying before well there’s no android software this faster than stock android software it’s nothing without the right specs and the nexus 6p does not hold back at all this thing’s a beast on paper and a real-life use Snapdragon 810 processor alongside an Adriano GPU drinking is a ramp and lastly we have a huge battery for fun this this thing at three thousand four hundred and fifty million powers the 60 comes in three storage configurations 32 64 and 128 cakes and now there is no expandable storage but at least Google decided to make 32 gigs a base model so overall performance on the nexus 6p is really good when you open an app is immediate and i really like this new app opening animation found in marshmallow closing a nap clicking the back button hopping into recent apps screen and jumping in and out of setting menus are super-fast and responsive everything is so super smooth and marshmallow also add some more nice buttery smooth animations to help make users feel this extra snappiness gaming should have no problem with the Snapdragon 810 and with that processor a lot of users were worried about how hot the phone would get and really I’ve had no issues with it gets a bit warm sometimes but no more any other phone I’ve used so the nexus 6p along with this little brother in the nexus 5x are the first phones to run android marshmallow 6 . know and there’s a lot along the way to features here because Nexus phones are supposed to showcase Google software quickly run through a few of my favorites there’s some small additions like holding down the Settings icon will give you access to the secret menu where you can add a battery percentage number without installing an app you can also hide and add icons to notification bar here I can also hide an ad title screen notification pull down which helps a lot of Google voice commands can be triggered when the screen is off now which I’ve been waiting forever for so in the car you can send text messages with your voice even when your phone is in your pocket when sharing photos you’ll not have some of your favorite sharing links right at your fingertips including your favorite contacts the volume controls are a lot better easily being able to access ringtones alarms and media volumes and there’s some big ones like permissions so instead of installing an app and willingly having to give the app access to everything it wants you can choose what the app can and can’t do if you don’t see why certain happens your camera you just don’t know you can easily manage these within settings and finally now on tap so now when you’re within an app and hold down on that home button you launched something called now on tap which means your screen for keywords or titles after a couple seconds of searching it will greet you with some links that you may find helpful this really comes in handy especially when you want to know a little bit more about something you’re reading without having to search for the right place to find that info Google now on tap does it all for you so if somebody starts talking about a certain person restaurant or a movie for example one on the home button with a second and you suddenly have links to their Integra Twitter website YouTube channel or anything else that Google can find it’s awesome to have and if you remember this feature is there will definitely be using it a lot sometimes it might not find exactly the key word you were looking for more info on but it should improve as time goes on so yeah this is replaced the Google now shortcut but you can still access it by clicking the g on the bottom it’s an extra click but on the home screen and launched Google now immediately there actually is one more huge feature in android marshmallow and that leads to the battery life so the nexus 6p has a big house and 450 million power battery and the way i use my phones i turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning but other than that all my emails are sent to push on the counter sinking my location settings are high I don’t baby my phones and the nexus 6p is no exception as has some great battery life I get around four and a half hours of screen on time on average which is perfect for me but with marshmallow we have this new feature called dose which puts his phone into this deep sleep when it isn’t moving so you can go to sleep with his phone on fifty percent and wake up 10 hours later and the nexus 6p will still be a 50-percent or maybe 49-percent it works exactly the way it should so you can get a bit more life out of your phones now that you could be four with lollipop also we have a USB type-c charging port which is very nice to use as a USB type-c cable is reversible it is also capable of fast charging and i can go from zero to a hundred and about an hour and 15 minutes or so the 60 also comes with the cable to transfer files to your computer although it’s really small but it’s nice that they included one overall the nexus 6 p’s battery is exactly what I was hoping for so Google really hyped up these cameras found on the new Nexus phones and they are definitely a lot better than the camera found on last year’s nexus 6 I know that isn’t saying much so I’ll put it in other words the 12 megapixel camera the nexus 6p has is one of the best on a smartphone it’s got a bigger sensor size and most smartphone cameras have which helps create a better looking image with much more detail it’s actually what you can find on some point and shoot cameras also with this hdr+ most and is awesome low-light performance you can get some really nice shots you can launch a camera with a double top of the power button which is very useful and fast and the time between pressing the shutter button and the camera taking a pic is pretty much instant on Google also finally get the Google camera app the update it needed changing cameras is no longer hidden under a menu and changing from photo to video mode is very easy all you got to do is just swipe left and right there’s also a burst mode which works really well and at the end Google photos instantly makes it animated gif or collage which is pretty cool anyways for the photos you get lots of detail with that big sensor and colors are very saturated but not too much just the right amount i say everything is pretty sharp without the softer over shopping things too much and when shooting in the default for 23 aspect ratio at 12 megapixels you got a lot in the frame it does tend to overexpose once in a while but that can be fixed with hdr+ so hdr+ really helps bring out the shadows although it does take an extra second it can really be worth it though and I try to leave it on all the time because it really brings up the color which may look a little bit unrealistic but I really do love it and of course dynamic range becomes perfect most of the time if you’re shooting in low-light hdr+ is a must it really takes away all the extra noise and also makes it look like it’s an entirely different camera that you’re shooting with it’s really amazing now there’s no optical image stabilization which is unfortunate because even with laser autofocus pictures can be a little blurred sometimes with your hands shaking and all of this applies to that front facing a mega pixels selfie camera as well really i think is one of the best quality and most detailed front facing cameras I’ve used it has a nice wide angle lens that you can fit a lot of things into the frame but in Lola areas of selfie camera can really suffer for example take this car seat that I’m sitting in can you tell the type of material it’s made out of well of course not but crank on the hdr+ and all the Sun in the noise is gone colors pop and you can suddenly recognized details like on this car seat really it’s amazing if you can afford to wait an extra second to snap a picture hdr+ is definitely worth having on video is decent on the 6p although it can have some trouble finding focus sometimes there’s no optical image stabilization but there is electronic stabilization I compared to other phones you won’t even be able to realize it’s still pretty bouncy when walking and if you’re shooting a video that has asked I in the shot will tend to be overexposed so overall not the best video experience will do the job for k is also available and it works well and looks good some frames may drop once in a while but quality is great all the videos will be a little bit more shaking with 4k because it doesn’t have electronic image stabilization slow motion can be accessed as well at a hundred and twenty frames or 240 and it looks really good so really if I have to stay some flaws in the nexus 6p I really have to think art it’s pretty big so it can be hard to use sometimes it can get scratched easily so be extra careful and other than that I really think is as perfect as a phone can be one of the best greens on a smartphone the camera is definitely up there with the best the software is buttery smooth and loaded with new features great battery life with those being an extra treat front facing speakers fingerprint scanner and the list just goes on and on and just when you thought the 6p couldn’t be any better the price is actually very reasonable for the 32 gig base model you’re looking at 499 549 for 64 gigs and six 49 for the 128 gig for most people 32 gigs to be enough especially if you use cloud storage for photos and streaming for music so 499 for a phone of this quality is definitely a great by Google and why did a great job with the nexus 6p and in no doubt lives up to all the hype well that’s about it for the nexus 6p.
